Sand or desert roses are most often composed of selenite and barite in a concretion looking like a rose.  It is soft and will dissolve in water.  Keep it away from other crystals to prevent damage and do not let them get wet.

Tanzanite is a variety of zoisite in the epidote group.  It forms in a range of colours including colourless, pale yellow/brown, grey/blue, brown/blue, blue and purple/blue.  This stone is often heat treated.  It is also a stone that is often faked and particularly stones with a strong colour would be likely to be treated or fake as would any large stones as natural tanzanite very rarely have large crystals.
